The purpose of the platform is to strengthen, highlight and support the public advocacy work undertaken by social organisations associated to the church through citizen mobilisation.

Many organisations and social collectives in the ecclesiastical ecosystem are focused on direct care for excluded and vulnerable groups. However, this broad presence does not always translate into a voice of relevance in the public debate that can help mobilise the general public and have an impact on the decision makers.

We believe in our mission as a process that cannot be limited to the direct work, but that also includes the phases of accompanying, serving, reflecting, creating awareness and defending. However, the latter phases are particularly hard for us to develop, especially the defending phase.

“viSIbles.org” emerges as a joint project of the social outreach of the Company of Jesus with the aim of encouraging advocacy and promoting citizen mobilisation around issues pertaining to social justice within the framework of the Church’s Social Doctrine.

Social organisations and collectives
They participate in the platform, promoting the CAUSES for which they are advocating and seeking the support of the general public to mobilise and accomplish changes.

Citizenship
Each person, on an individual basis, participates by lending their support to the CAUSES they share and can contribute to disseminating them.

Social justice CAUSES in alignment with the Church’s general Social Doctrine principles, in different lines of action, such as migrations, youth and at-risk youth, international cooperation, ecology and the environment, fair economy and combating poverty, inequality, democracy and participation, human rights, etc.

Organisations and social collectives wishing to promote a CAUSE should apply to register it on the platform by using the contact form on viSIbles.org.

Once accepted, they will receive permission to access a simple online editing space where they can edit a CAUSE and communicate with the people supporting this CAUSE.

Before being published, all the CAUSES must be approved by the platform’s board, which acts in accordance with its editorial criteria. Of these, particular consideration is given to the following criteria:

• That the causes are aligned with the general principles of the Church’s Social Doctrine.
• That the organisations that promote them ensure minimum capabilities to sustain and support the cause.
• That each organisation appoint an interlocutor and lead person for the cause.

The general public can participate and take action in favour of the different CAUSES
through the different calls to action it will find in the information published on each
one.

“viSIbles.org” is promoted and led by the Social Sector of the Company of Jesus in Spain and strives to be an open space for participation and a meeting place for faith-based social organisations who wish to take action for justice. The NGO Entreculturas is responsible for technical management.

• It facilitates and complements the ordinary actions of organisations by helping to pinpoint and disseminate situations – CAUSES of injustice – and seek the support of the general public.
• It makes these supports tangible in the form of figures.
• It enables the scope to be expanded and reach more people, thanks to social media contacts and regular dispatches from the platform through its newsletter.
• It boosts and improves communication with the people supporting the CAUSES.
• The contents display properly on SMARTPHONE screens, which makes it easier to share the CAUSES and drum up support.
• It´s a multilingual platform: Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque.
• It is free to use.
• The platform is moderated and supervised in accordance with the editorial policy in order to guarantee the quality and strictness of the CAUSES and the contents published
